RUFFWEAR BOOT SIZING

Match the widest weight-bearing paw.

Ruffwear sizes Grip Trex boots by paw width—not breed or body weight. Measure all four paws before choosing.

Official fit rule: measure across the widest part of each paw while your dog is standing. Ruffwear says to size down when a measurement falls between chart sizes.

What if front and rear paws are different?

Record the largest front-paw width and the largest rear-paw width separately. A single four-boot size can be loose on the rear paws when the front paws are wider. Grip Trex boots are offered in pairs, which makes a two-size setup possible.

Do not trace a lifted paw

A lifted paw is narrower than a paw carrying body weight. Place paper on a hard floor, let your dog stand naturally, and mark both sides of the widest point. Repeat the measurement before ordering.

Check the fit indoors

Keep the boots clean and returnable. Follow Ruffwear’s fastening instructions, walk briefly on a non-slip floor, then look for rotation, rubbing, restricted movement, or a paw that is not fully seated.
